Fleeing on the Sabbath (Matthew 24:20)

In Matthew 24:20, Yeshua’s admonished his followers in Jerusalem and Judea to pray that they wouldn’t have to flee in winter or on the Sabbath during the coming Roman war. Why did Yeshua tell his followers to pray that they wouldn’t have to flee on the Sabbath? What might be some implications of this instruction?
